Every year, more than 79,000 Americans fall sick with salmonellosis because they ate eggs that were contaminated with Salmonella bacteria and prepared improperly. Recently, the US Food and Drug Administration decided that egg producers will be required to
follow certain preventative measures to reduce the chance of contamination.
Experts at the FDA believe this will eliminate over half the cases of this foodborne illness. That's good news, but you can reduce your risk even further if you simply follow safe egg handling procedures at home.

Make Meals Healthy and Easy

Some days you come home from work and the last thing you want to do is cook a meal. So, do you go to the fast food restaurant and grab something to take home, or maybe order a pizza? That's OK now and then, but most of your meals really need to be healthy.

Starbucks Adds Healthier Items

I travel a lot so that means I spend a fair amount of time in coffee shops (love wireless internet access). While it's fun to try out different local coffee shops, sometimes its just easier to stop at a Starbucks because I know what to expect.
So I'm pleased to see Starbucks add healthier items to their menu (I especially like the Farmer's Market Salad). Hopefully, it's part of a trend where restaurants rein in the gigantic portions of unhealthy foods and start offering more healthy foods that truly are delicious.
